Why character limits matter for Amazon SEO

Every field in your Amazon listing is a place to index for keywords, but each has a hard limit. Go over and Amazon silently truncates or rejects your copy, so the keywords at the end never get indexed. Staying just under each limit lets you capture the most search terms without losing any.

The backend search terms field is the one sellers get wrong most often. It is measured in bytes, so accented or non Latin characters eat into your 249 byte budget faster than plain letters. This counter shows the true byte count so you know exactly how much room is left.

Most Amazon categories allow up to 200 characters in the product title, though some cap lower. Mobile search results truncate the title at roughly 70 to 80 characters, so always put your most important keyword at the very front.
How many characters are Amazon backend search terms?
Amazon's backend search terms field is limited to 249 bytes, not characters. Most Latin letters are 1 byte, but accented and non Latin characters can be 2 to 4 bytes each, which is why this tool counts bytes for that field. Do not use commas and do not repeat words already in your title.
How long should Amazon bullet points be?
The field usually allows up to about 500 characters per bullet, but shorter is better. Aim for under roughly 200 characters per bullet so shoppers can scan them quickly. Lead each bullet with the benefit, then support it.
Do longer listings rank better on Amazon?
No. Using the full character allowance to index for more keywords helps, but only if the copy still reads well and converts. A keyword stuffed title that hurts click through rate will rank worse, not better. Balance keyword coverage with readability.
